Faith at stake

As Muslims and also parents, we have a very difficult task to make sure our children’s faith is really strong to face tough challenges in their life, not only during their teenage life but also for the rest of their life and the after life.  The most important thing that we have do is to make our children not only to understand but also to have faith in their purpose of living in this world.  Is it to be rich?  Is it to be glamour?  Is it to enjoy life by doing whatever they want to do?

As Muslims, Allah has told us the purpose of creating us.

And I have not created the jinn and the men except that they should serve Me. (Al-Quran 051.056)
Serve over here does not mean that we have to stay at mosque or prayer mat and recite AL-Quran or Zikr all the time.  Serve over here means to do whatever Allah ask us to do and do not do whatever Allah forbid us to do.  So, we can do anything that we want to do as long as it is not forbid by Allah.

This is what Allah has told us and, excuse me, who are we to challenge Allah’s command?

Regarding the raid at one of the KL’s discos, any Muslim shouldn’t go to this kind of place.  Looking at the pictures of the party at the disco and reading info about the disco, it is not a place for Muslim to hang around.  I believe more than 90% of the customer drink alcohol and the party environment inside it which male and female mix together with sexy attire is against the Islamic moral.

O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Al-Quran 033.059)

Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: And Allah is well acquainted with all that they do. (Al-Quran 024.030)

And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers…… (Al-Quran 024.031)

From these verses, it is clear that in Allah’s view, the disco is not for any Muslim to hang around or be there.  Moreover, there are guidelines on the proper clothing and social activities in Islamic perspective in these verses.

This is what Allah has told us and, excuse me,  who are we to challenge Allah’s command?

Furthermore, as a Muslim parent I fully supports authorities doing their job to forbid the wrong(mungkar)  which is asked by Allah to be done.  By doing this, it will be a lesson to other teenagers so that they are not going to do the wrong.

Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah
(Al-Quran 003.110)
In this verse, Allah has told us and ask us that we have to forbid the wrong.  And those who enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah is considered as the best people.

This is what Allah has told us and, excuse me, who are we to challenge Allah’s command?

Regarding the way the authorities handle the young people, so far we hear from one side.  We never hear from the authorities side because of political pressure.  So it is unfair to accuse one side is wrong without the accused make the defense.  So it is good for the authorities to disclose their side of the story openly without any pressure.  If the authorities really do what is not supposed to be done, the change of procedure is really needed.  But the job to forbid the wrong should be continued so that it can be a lesson for other people.  By the way, the authority acted on the complaint by public and does not target only this disco.

As Muslim, tolerant society should be viewed in Islamic perspective.  In Islam, as a Muslim we must follow the teaching of Islam, and the non-Muslim must be allowed to follow their teaching.  Any religion group should not interfere with other religion.  We should not take the western view of tolerant society

You shall have your religion and I shall have my religion (Al-Quran 109.006)
This is what Allah has told us and, excuse me, who are we to challenge Allah’s command?

Actually, I will never brag about Malaysia of being progressive Muslim country.  Yes, maybe we are better than Uganda, Zimbabwe and Ghana.  But to compare with developed country, I doubt it.  It is known secrete that our Justice system has been tainted.  Hmmm by whom haa?  The corruption is widespread and it started when those who involve in corruption but have good relation with top leader will be saved from being charged in court.  Hmm..  During which time haa?  Our education system is now in chaos especially the implementation of teaching science and math in English.  Teachers who teach science & math agree with this.  At the end of the day, the Science teachers have to teach two thing within their science class, which is English and Science.  Hmm…Who decide this haa?  Oh ya… do you know there are still children who cannot go to school because of the financial problem?  And it happens not only at small village, but Klang Valley?  Do you know that smart school is fail to be implemented successfully after millions of ringgits is spent on it?  What about housing projects which destroy environment?  Do you know that most of the low cost house projects are not for all the people of Malaysia?  It is for the member of certain political party and if you have good cable you will get it even if you are rich.  Do you know that in this progressive Muslim country there is casino, which is the only one in SE Asia?

Believe me, those who do not understand Islam or ignorant of Islam will oppose the raid.  If you go down to villagers or ordinary Muslim citizen, they will agree with the raid.  Only those who are rich or who have power  and ignorant of Islam do not agree with the raid.

If the whole world knows about this raid, it is all right as long as we do it according to the law.  We should be ourselves and proud of ourselves. As Muslim, we should worry not to other people’s perception but we should worry to Allah’s perception because in the end we answer to only one Boss, which is Allah.  During that time no one can help us, no cronies, no cable, no power.  By the way why don’t we feel embarrassed to other country when our justice system is being ripped off by that person?

For those teenage, we should start to educate them and also ourselves with Islamic teaching.  What about make a schedule for the whole family to hang out at KFC or Mc. Donald or Pizza Hut or Mamak Stall or other place and for those who can afford it dinner at Hotel maybe once or twice a week. Then have a schedule to attend the kuliah at mosque 3 times a week.  Then have a schedule to go picnic may be once a month.  Then make schedule for the whole family for exercise/jogging 3 times a week.  Then sent them to motivational camp once a year.  Then schedule for traveling maybe twice a year.  Actually there are a lot of activities can be done without sacrifice our Islamic value.  And the involvement of the parents on these activities is very important.  Believe me, if we do this and take Islam as way of life, Insyallah we will be success in this life and after life.

So, don’t blame others when we fail to teach our children the Islamic values.  Don’t blame others when we fail to make them understand our purpose of life.  Don’t blame others when we fail to be good Muslim parents.  Who's to blame for that?
